Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Sr. Pr. Project Engineer (Program Chief) to lead display projects, manage cost, schedule, and technical performance, and serve as the main engineering contact for customers.

The role requires strong leadership, Earned Value experience, and deep knowledge of TSO/DO-160/DO-254/DO-178B/C certification processes. Onsite collaboration with hardware, software and systems teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field.
• Proven leadership in certified flight deck display development.
• Strong background in technical project management including scheduling and risk management.
• Expertise in avionics regulatory and certification requirements (TSO, DO-160, DO-254, DO-178B/C).
• Demonstrated ability to meet program objectives and commitments.
• Collaborative and mentoring mindset with strong communication across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage display product development programs, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule, and technical performance goals.
• Provide technical and project management leadership across hardware, systems, and software engineering teams.
• Act as the single point of contact for engineering, ensuring technical execution aligns with program and customer expectations.
• Drive program planning and execution, including pursuit, bidding, risk management, and customer technical presentations.
• Ensure compliance with avionics regulatory/certification requirements (TSO, DO-160, DO-254, DO-178B/C).
• Stay current on AMLCD and emerging display technologies to keep Collins Aerospace at the forefront of innovation.
• Balance system performance and affordability to deliver high-value solutions.
• Communicate effectively across all levels, from contributors to executive leadership.
