  • 10+ years of biotech/pharma industry experience.
  • 6+ years directly in clinical biomarker development within oncology.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing biomarker strategies for oncology programs.
  • Experience with oncogenic signaling pathways.
  • Strong understanding of clinical biomarker technologies and molecular assays.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of clinical biomarker strategies across oncology programs.
  • Provide translational medicine input into study design, patient selection, and development plans.
  • Serve as Translational Medicine representative on cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Development, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Regulatory to integrate biomarker objectives into studies.
  • Develop biomarker analysis plans with clinical bioinformatics teams.
  • Drive strategies for predictive, pharmacodynamic and response biomarkers.
  • Partner on implementing clinical assays and diagnostic strategies.
  • Apply NGS, IHC, PCR and other molecular approaches to biomarker development.
  • Collaborate with discovery teams on translational efforts to understand biology and resistance.
  • Support publication and scientific communications related to biomarkers.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Director, Translational Medicine to lead clinical biomarker strategy and execution across a growing oncology portfolio focused on molecularly targeted therapies.

This highly cross-functional role will serve as a senior translational medicine leader supporting clinical development programs across solid tumors. The Senior Director will be responsible for developing and executing clinical biomarker strategies that inform patient selection, clinical development decisions, therapeutic response, and the advancement of programs across the development lifecycle.

The position will work closely with Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Biomarker Operations, Companion Diagnostics, Regulatory, and Research teams to translate emerging biology and clinical data into actionable development strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of clinical biomarker strategies across early- and late-stage oncology development programs.
  • Provide strategic translational medicine input into clinical development plans, study design, protocol development, patient selection strategies, and clinical decision-making.
  • Serve as the Translational Medicine representative on cross-functional program and development teams.
  • Partner with Clinical Development, Biostatistics, Clinical Operations, and Regulatory teams to integrate biomarker objectives into clinical studies.
  • Collaborate with clinical bioinformatics teams to develop biomarker analysis plans and interpret molecular and clinical datasets.
  • Drive strategies for predictive, pharmacodynamic, and response biomarkers to support patient selection and clinical development.
  • Partner with Biomarker Operations and Companion Diagnostics teams on the implementation of clinical assays and diagnostic strategies.
  • Apply technologies including NGS, IHC, PCR, ctDNA, and other molecular approaches to clinical biomarker development.
  • Collaborate with research and discovery teams on forward and reverse translational efforts to deepen understanding of disease biology, mechanisms of response, and resistance.
  • Support publication strategies and scientific communications related to clinical biomarker findings.
  • Maintain deep awareness of emerging science in oncogenic signaling, precision oncology, predictive biomarkers, and novel molecular technologies.
Qualifications
Required
  • PhD in Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 10+ years of biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • 6+ years of direct experience in clinical biomarker development within oncology.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing biomarker strategies in support of oncology clinical development programs.
  • Development experience involving oncogenic signaling pathways.
  • Strong understanding of clinical biomarker technologies and molecular assays, including NGS, IHC, PCR, and related approaches.
  • Experience partnering with Clinical Development on study design, protocol development, biomarker analysis, and patient selection strategies.
  • Strong understanding of translational science and its application across oncology drug development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence and operate effectively across highly cross-functional development teams.
  • Excellent scientific communication, strategic thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
  • Experience with RAS, KRAS, RAS-MAPK, or related oncogenic signaling pathways.
  • Experience supporting the clinical development of molecularly targeted oncology therapies.
  • Experience with precision oncology, genomic patient selection, ctDNA, or liquid biopsy strategies.
  • Companion diagnostic or clinical diagnostic development experience.
  • Clinical development experience spanning both early-stage and late-stage programs, including Phase 1 and Phase 3 studies.
