Job summary

Vertex is seeking a Senior Director, Head of Technical Services to lead manufacturing-facing technical support for Type 1 Diabetes Stem Cell Therapy Operations. This leader will oversee real-time GMP manufacturing support, troubleshooting, investigations, operational process monitoring, and readiness for approved process changes.

This role requires deep cell therapy manufacturing experience, strong people leadership, and the ability to partner across Manufacturing, MSAT, Quality, Engineering,

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in biotech, bioprocessing, cell biology, or related field.
• 15+ years in biotech/biopharma/cell therapy manufacturing environments.
• 8+ years of leadership experience.
• Experience leading GMP-regulated manufacturing support and deviations investigations.

Responsibilities

• Lead Technical Services for GMP manufacturing of cell-derived therapies.
• Provide technical leadership for manufacturing operations and escalation handling.
• Drive investigations, deviations, and process excursions.
• Oversee readiness for process changes and new product introductions.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and MSAT.
