Job summary
Vertex is seeking a Senior Director, Head of Technical Services to lead manufacturing-facing technical support for Type 1 Diabetes Stem Cell Therapy Manufacturing Operations. This leader will oversee real-time GMP manufacturing support, troubleshooting, investigations, and manufacturing readiness in collaboration with MSAT, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain.

Qualifications
- Advanced degree in bioscience or related field.
- 15+ years in biotech/therapeutics manufacturing.
- 8+ years of people leadership experience.
- Experience leading manufacturing-facing technical support in GMP.
- Strong experience with deviations, investigations and change control.
- Ability to influence across Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain.
Responsibilities
- Lead Technical Services for GMP cell therapy manufacturing.
- Provide technical leadership for cell therapy manufacturing operations.
- Serve as senior technical escalation point for batch issues.
- Lead troubleshooting and investigations for deviations and excursions.
- Drive process monitoring, risk identification and manufacturing performance.
- Own readiness for process changes, campaigns, and launches.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Regulatory.
- Build and mentor a high-performing technical team.
- Foster a culture of quality, accountability and patient focus.
