Job summary

The Hertz Corporation seeks an experienced accounting professional in Montpelier, VT area to research complex transactions and advise on GAAP treatment for executive management. You’ll oversee Bermuda insurance entity accounting, month-end close, and regulatory filings in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires Big 4 experience, a CPA, strong US GAAP/IFRS/SEC knowledge, and proven leadership with the ability to deliver accurate results under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Big 4 audit experience with 5–8 years of related work experience.
• Bachelor Degree in Accounting and CPA required.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS and SEC regulations.
• Experience with external auditor consultations and SEC comment letters.
• Ability to manage responsibilities and direct the work of others.
• Strong execution, follow-up and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in writing clear communications on technical accounting matters.
• Process improvement mindset and ability to think creatively.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to interact effectively with internal and external auditors.

Responsibilities

• Consult with internal partners on complex transactions to ensure proper accounting.
• Inform and consult with management on new accounting and regulatory standards.
• Review external financial reporting documents (Forms 10-Q/10-K/S-1/8-K) for accuracy.
• Coordinate with external reporting to prepare 10-Q and 10-K filings.
• Research technical accounting matters and author memos.
• Communicate policy matters to senior management.
• Evaluate complex transactions for proper accounting treatment and alternatives.
• Interact with auditors on technical accounting matters.
• Oversee month-end and quarter-end reconciliations and journal entries.
• Ensure GAAP-compliant reflection of financials in the general ledger.
• Direct team members in significant account analysis.
• Adhere to Sarbanes-Oxley and internal controls; monitor control points.
• Provide insights to FP&A for monthly forecasts and annual plans.
• Foster an environment of productivity, growth, and teamwork; meet tight deadlines.
• Preferred locations in Altana, GA / Estero, FL or OKC, but open to remote.
