Job description

Job Posting: Sr. Director - Strategy & Operations, Business Division
About the Role

We are a leading note-taking platform, used by millions of people globally to capture ideas, learn, think, and work more effectively. We recently launched our business-focused product line after more than a year of development and a pilot program that achieved 100% customer conversion. We are currently seeing adoption across finance, law, consulting, architecture, engineering and construction, professional sports, industrials, and SMBs, with more than 600,000 professional users already adopting the platform organically into their workflows. We are seeking a senior leader to grow this division into a meaningful new business line, turning strong organic adoption into a repeatable, scalable growth engine across teams, departments, and larger organizations.

As the Sr. Director of Strategy & Operations, you will own the strategy and operating model, with a primary mandate to accelerate growth by improving conversion, expanding the pipeline, and building the sales, customer success, and cross-functional systems needed to support long-term expansion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and Scale: Own the strategy and execution plan for growing this business line. Define focus areas, prioritize opportunities, and implement the operating systems needed to scale revenue efficiently.

  • Turn Customer Insights into Growth: Develop a clear view of where we are winning, why customers adopt the product, and what slows adoption. Use market insights to sharpen segmentation, messaging, packaging, pricing, product priorities, and go-to-market execution.

  • Build the Commercial Motion: Create a repeatable growth motion that combines our large professional user base with targeted outbound efforts, account-based selling, onboarding, customer success, and expansion. Build an efficient model that increases pipeline quality, improves conversion, and keeps CAC low.

  • Team Development: As the business scales, define the hiring plan and team structure needed to support continued growth.

What You Need
Experience and Expertise
  • 7+ years of high-performance experience across strategy, operations, finance, product, growth, or business leadership roles.

  • Strong analytical and strategic foundation, ideally developed in investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or another rigorous business environment.

  • Tech operating experience, preferably in a high-growth company where you helped scale a product, marketplace, SaaS business, PLG motion, or new business line.

  • Proven ownership of business outcomes, with the ability to move from strategy to execution and drive measurable growth.

  • Strong commercial judgment across the customer lifecycle, including segmentation, pipeline development, pricing, packaging, sales, customer success, and expansion.

  • Ability to partner deeply with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and Executive Leadership to translate customer needs and business priorities into clear plans.

  • Track record of creating structure in ambiguous environments through metrics, operating cadences, dashboards, playbooks, planning processes, and team workflows.

  • Experience managing people or leading cross-functional teams, with the ability to attract, coach, and develop a small, high-performing team.

Leadership Qualities
  • Builder Mindset: Motivated by ownership, accountability, and the chance to scale a new business line.

  • Growth Orientation: Energized by turning organic demand into a repeatable, scalable revenue engine.

  • Strategic and Operational Range: Able to define the opportunity, build the plan, and stay close enough to the details to drive execution.

  • Structured Communication: Creates clarity for senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams operating in ambiguity.

  • Customer Orientation: Translates customer needs and market signals into better product, go-to-market, and operating decisions.

Additional Information
  • Compensation: Target compensation includes base pay between $220,000 - $300,000, with equity and incentive compensation determined based on experience.

  • Location: This role follows a hybrid model, with a minimum of two days onsite at our downtown San Francisco office and flexibility to work remotely from home the rest of the week.
