Job summary

Cornell University seeks an External Relations Officer V to lead industry and foundation partnerships for the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science.

This senior role focuses on creating tailored collaborations that fund high-impact research, innovation, and education, by engaging technology companies, philanthropies, and other partners. The Director reports to the Bowers Associate Dean for Research and collaborates with college leadership, faculty, and university

Qualifications

• Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in business development, corporate or foundation relations, or related fields.
• Proven success building and managing complex external relationships with corporations or foundations.
• Exceptional writing and presentation skills for persuasive proposals and briefings.
• Ability to work with senior leaders, faculty, staff and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel quarterly to major hubs and occasionally evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to cultivate, secure, and steward external partnerships.
• Manage a portfolio of technology companies, philanthropies, and institutional partners.
• Coordinate with college leadership to translate research and education into investment opportunities.
