Job summary

Sunstates Security is hiring a Director of Security Operations for its New York City regional operations. The Director oversees overall operational management of a security guarding book of business, guiding day-to-day operations, client relationships, personnel management, process execution, and service delivery.

The role requires regular travel to client locations; salary ranges from $90,000 to $124,000 with DOE. Join a growing team committed to excellence and employee development.

Qualifications

• Retired NYPD officer with managerial or supervisory experience preferred.
• Armed NY Guard License with unrestricted carry license and retired credentials.
• Proven operational leadership and management experience.
• Experience in the security guarding industry preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to manage personnel, client relationships, and multiple operational priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of field operations, personnel management, and service delivery.
• Ability and willingness to travel between client locations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain full operational responsibility for an assigned security guarding book of business and oversee day-to-day operations.
• Provide hands-on leadership and oversight of operational personnel and supporting functions.
• Manage and approve hiring and termination decisions in coordination with Human Resources.
• Lead in planning, execution, and problem resolution to meet client expectations.
• Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and visits.
• Direct security officer communications, coaching, training, and performance expectations.
• Attend new account start-ups, client meetings, site inspections, and operational walk-throughs.
• Monitor service delivery and ensure client requirements and company standards are met.
• Identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions using best practices.
• Document all operational activities, incidents, and corrective actions in the company database.
• Collaborate with Directors, HR, and senior management on objectives and initiatives.
• Participate in weekly Directors’ meetings and contribute to planning.
• Provide ongoing support to field personnel to maintain professionalism and accountability.
