Job summary

Gusto is seeking an experienced Senior Data Science Leader to empower our Sales Data team, delivering insights, forecasting, and measurement infrastructure that underpin revenue growth. You will guide senior sales and marketing leaders, develop analysts into statistical thinkers, and collaborate across Sales Operations, Data Engineering, Finance, and R&D.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data science or related fields, with 4+ years leading analytics teams.
• Leadership with a builder mindset; inspire and develop teams while doing hands-on work when needed.
• Strong statistical and causal inference expertise with experimental design and observational data.
• Deep experience with Salesforce data at scale, data extraction, and CRM-to-warehouse reconciliation.
• Infrastructure-first mindset; rebuild data foundations for long-term scalability.
• Technical depth: SQL, dbt, Snowflake; mentor analysts in best practices.
• Sales/revenue domain knowledge: pipeline, forecasting, acquisition, expansion analytics.
• Cross-functional partnership; align roadmaps with platform engineering and sales ops.
• Change management; coach teams toward strategic, analytical work.
• Clear communicator; translate complex data challenges for executives.
• AI-forward: leverage AI tooling to improve self-serve analytics and insights.
• SaaS / Growth background with experience in high-growth environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Sales Analytics team; drive vision and deliver impact across customer acquisition and product expansion.
• Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify revenue drivers; translate data into actionable leadership insights.
• Rebuild the data foundation with Data Engineering and Service Platform partners for scalable analytics.
• Partner with stakeholders to align on a shared data and infrastructure roadmap.
• Evolve forecasting capabilities with rigorous analytics methods and controls.
• Enable self-service analytics with AI; stay ahead of emerging AI tools for revenue analytics.
• Drive team excellence; recruit, mentor, and raise performance to strategic analysis levels.
• Act as connective tissue across the data org; bring in the right partners for technical solutions.
