Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Major Gifts professional to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward principal gifts for our hospital partners. You will manage a personal portfolio, meet annual metrics, and develop compelling donor proposals.

In collaboration with leadership and gift officers, you will execute moves management strategies, close seven- and eight-figure gifts, and document work in Blackbaud CRM, while traveling as needed to engage boards and volunteers.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience working directly with donors and volunteers.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in fundraising and academic medicine is ideal.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Active listening skills and ability to influence others.
  • Experience managing and engaging with leadership volunteers.
  • Ability to motivate, engage and work collaboratively with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to think strategically and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated track record of closing seven- and eight-figure gifts.
  • Command of Microsoft Office tools and Constituent Relationship Management databases.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward principal gifts-level donors.
  • Manage a personal portfolio of principal gifts prospects and donors.
  • Meet annually established fundraising and performance metrics.
  • Conduct donor meetings and prospect qualification.
  • Solicit and close outright, life income, bequest and asset gifts.
  • Formulate, document and execute prospect and donor moves management strategies.
  • Develop and produce compelling donor proposals.
  • Document work in Blackbaud CRM.
  • Collaborate with leadership, faculty, researchers, administrators and gift officers.
  • Develop cross-disciplinary transformational funding opportunities aligned with hospital priorities.
  • Maintain relationships with Boards, advisory board members, presidents, senior vice presidents and volunteer leaders.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Strategic Philanthropy and Engagement team.
  • Foster information sharing, learning, collaboration and best-practice development.
  • Participate in staff recruitment as needed.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as necessary.
  • Attend departmental meetings and complete assigned follow-up tasks.
  • Contribute to positive office morale and perform other office-wide duties as needed.
