Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 10+ years related work experience in development with an established track record of major gifts.
  • 0-1 years supervisory/management experience.
  • Solid volunteer management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and successfully utilize volunteers in achieving fundraising goals.
  • Demonstrated success in personally cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and/or annual fund gifts.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and adjust to other departmental needs.
  • Written and oral communication in English.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and direct major proposals, solicitation letters, and other donor materials.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of 125 major gift prospects and donors.
  • Develop individually tailored gift strategies with the Vice President of Philanthropy and volunteer leaders.
  • Support strategic planning and implementation of divisional goals.
  • Direct and support employees' daily work activities.
  • Handle hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Manage 2-3 direct reports.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • More than 10 years of related work experience required in development, with an established track record of major gift or other related development experience
  • 0-1 years supervisory/management experience required
  • Solid volunteer management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and successfully utilize volunteers in achieving fundraising goals
  • Demonstrated success in personally cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and/or annual fund gifts
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and adjust to other departmental needs
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications, which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access, and other web-based applications
  • Knowledge of information systems supporting fundraising activities preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate many projects simultaneously with minimum supervision preferred
  • Written and oral communication in English
