Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. is seeking a Director of Patient Safety to lead IT professionals supporting HRSA and OPTN compliance.

The role focuses on improving patient safety, data-driven quality initiatives, and ensuring adherence to federal regulations in organ transplantation and related programs. The position requires a Master’s degree with 10–15 years in quality assurance and healthcare management, and a strong regulatory background.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required (MBA, MHA, MSN, MPH, or equivalent). PhD and other clinical qualifications preferred.
• 10 years minimum, 15 years preferred in quality assurance, clinical compliance, health consulting, or healthcare management, preferably in organ transplantation or a related field.
• 5 years minimum in a management or leadership role.
• Clinical experience is required.
• Strong analytical abilities (data-driven).
• Proficiency in regulatory standards (such as CMS or OPTN).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Leadership capabilities.
• Systems based mindset.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing case management processes, member performance monitoring, quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring adherence to OPTN bylaws, HRSA policies, and federal regulations.
• Leading the Patient Safety and Compliance Reviews Task Team and delivering progress reports to stakeholders including HRSA, OPTN committees and the OPTN Board of Directors.
• Overseeing compliance and monitoring activities for OPTN member institutions, including OPOs, transplant centers and histocompatibility laboratories.
• Developing and executing oversight plans, including monitoring, performance improvement, triage, case review, and site visits.
• Providing real-time escalation and data sharing with HRSA and OPTN as necessary.
• Leading design and implementation of data-driven quality improvement initiatives to strengthen member compliance and organ placement efficiency.
• Drafting and disseminating educational materials and guidelines to OPTN members based on QA findings.
• Mentoring staff and ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
