Job summary

Horizon3.ai is seeking a Senior Director of Engineering for Proactive Offense to set the engineering direction and build an organization that turns offensive security research into reliable NodeZero products. You will lead through managers and senior contributors across multiple teams, balancing technical judgment with company strategy.

You will guide how NodeZero identifies, exploits, and validates vulnerabilities across complex environments, partnering with Product and other Engineering

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading and scaling software engineering organizations delivering SaaS or cybersecurity products.
• Track record of setting engineering strategy and delivering across multiple teams in fast-moving environments.
• Strong technical judgment in software architecture and offensive security domains such as exploit development, vulnerability research, attack automation, or red teaming.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale the Proactive Offense engineering organization across teams responsible for offensive capabilities, exploit development, and attack automation within NodeZero.
• Translate the organization’s charter into a clear technical strategy, operating model, and sequenced roadmap, balancing customer value, product priorities, and durable engineering foundations.
• Build an effective leadership structure; hire, coach, and develop managers, technical leaders, and senior individual contributors with clear ownership and accountability.
• Establish goals and operating mechanisms that make progress, quality, capacity, dependencies, and risks visible across teams.
• Partner with technical leaders on architecture and design to evolve systems as the portfolio expands.
• Partner with Product, Platform, and customer-facing teams to prioritize work across offensive research, vulnerability exploitation, attack content, and automation.
• Shape a coherent portfolio roadmap with explicit scope and measurable outcomes, managing cross-team dependencies.
• Drive capabilities from proof of concept to production, turning research into reliable product features.
• Ensure engineering investments improve customer outcomes while balancing quality and speed to market.
• Surface tradeoffs early and communicate decisions clearly to protect teams from conflicting priorities.
