Job summary

Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY seeks a dynamic Senior Director of Development to advance the University’s philanthropic priorities through identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding prospects and donors.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development, the Senior Director will supervise two junior development officers, collaborate with academic leaders, and develop fundraising strategies to secure transformative gifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of five years of related professional experience.
• Ability to travel 25-40% of the time, with occasional evenings and weekends.
• Demonstrated success in cultivating, soliciting, and closing significant gifts from individual donors.
• Proven experience securing gifts of $100,000 or more.

Responsibilities

• Actively manages a portfolio of 60–75 constituents with a focus on gifts of $100,000 and above.
• Develops fundraising strategies and donor engagement plans.
• Conducts a minimum of 120 prospect visits and donor engagements annually.
• Prepares funding opportunities through proposals and white papers.
• Supervises two junior development officers and provides coaching.
• Oversees goal setting and progress with colleagues across units.
• Maintains donor records in CRM and represents Hofstra at events.
