Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL) is seeking a Sr. Director of Data Engineering for REMS to lead data platform strategy, architecture, and governance at scale. Location options include Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX, with ~20% travel.

Lead a high-performing team delivering pipelines, APIs, and analytics across real estate operations. The role requires 10+ years in data engineering, 5+ years in people leadership, expert Python/SQL, and cloud exposure (Azure/AWS).

Qualifications

• 10+ years of data engineering across large, complex projects and technology domains.
• 5+ years of people management experience, including managing managers or team leads.
• Expert proficiency in Python and SQL; strong distributed data processing with PySpark.
• 5+ years hands-on with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) and data services (Databricks, ADF, Synapse, Redshift).
• Experience establishing data governance frameworks with quality, lineage, ownership, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the REMS data platform strategy and architecture.
• Provide technical leadership across the REMS Data Engineering team and projects.
• Oversee design, delivery, and improvement of REMS data pipelines, APIs, and services.
• Own data modeling standards (relational, dimensional, NoSQL) for performance and analytics.
• Establish DataOps practices, data quality, lineage, and governance.
• Architect integration patterns and API strategies for REMS data access.
• Partner with product, engineering, and stakeholders to align data capabilities with product priorities.
• Hire, develop, and mentor data engineers and leads; conduct architecture reviews.
