The Senior Director, Nurse Scientist is a role model for transformational leadership, responsible for overseeing departmental operations and finances, evaluating performance, demonstrating customer satisfaction, strategic and operational planning, program development, and quality assurance. This role serves as a leader and mentor within UVA Health and directs the development and coordination of UVA Medical Center's nursing research program.
The role involves coordinating, managing, and providing expertise in the development, implementation, and dissemination of nursing research studies led primarily by nurses within the medical center, in collaboration with UVA Health entities. The Senior Director fosters an environment that integrates nursing research to enhance care delivery and professional practice, aiming to improve recruitment and retention of exceptional nurses. Maintaining a research program that results in national dissemination and external funding is essential. As a UVA School of Nursing faculty member, contributions to the academic preparation of nursing students are expected.

Education: Research doctorate in nursing (PhD or DNSc) or related field (ScD, EdD). If in a discipline other than nursing, must hold BSN or MSN.
Experience: 3-5 years of clinical research experience, knowledge of grant funding processes, dissemination activities, mentoring skills, and eligibility for faculty appointment at UVA School of Nursing.
License/Certification: Current RN license and eligibility for Virginia licensure.
This position is primarily sedentary, involving extensive computer use, with occasional travel to meetings and programs.
