Job summary

Our client seeks a strategic Senior Director of Merchandising & Retail Operations to lead enterprise merchandising strategy across a dynamic, multi-store NYC grocery footprint. This is a high-impact leadership role spanning category management, pricing, promotions, supplier relationships, retail execution, and customer experience.

Responsibilities include setting enterprise strategy, leading category management, optimizing space and promotions, owning P&L, and driving growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in grocery/food retail merchandising leadership across multi-store environments.
• Proven ability to set and execute merchandising strategy including pricing, promotions, and assortment.
• Strong ownership of category or business-unit P&Ls with growth in sales and margins.
• Experience negotiating with national brands, distributors, and local vendors.
• Analytical mindset with ability to translate data into actionable merchandising decisions.

Responsibilities

• Set and execute the enterprise merchandising and retail operations strategy for a multi-store NYC grocery footprint.
• Lead category management, assortment planning, space optimization, and pricing decisions.
• Own category-level P&L performance to drive revenue, margin, and inventory productivity.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships with national brands and local suppliers.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to improve availability, speed to market, and promotional performance.
• Lead and develop a high-performing merchandising and retail operations team.
