Job summary

Foley & Lardner LLP seeks a Director, Market & Client Communications to lead market-facing communications that strengthen the firm’s brand, elevate visibility, and advance client development and talent recruiting. The role focuses on demand creation, differentiation, thought leadership, and external storytelling across multiple markets.

You will partner with BD, Talent, and practice leaders to deliver integrated campaigns, manage agency partners, and guide internal communications that position

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years of strategic marketing communications and brand experience, including integrated plans across content strategy, public relations, digital, social media, SEO, and internal communications.
• Law firm experience strongly preferred.
• Impeccable written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to tailor communications for different stakeholders and audiences.
• Collaborative relationship builder with interpersonal skills to work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead market-facing communications strategies that support client development, growth priorities, and recruiting.
• Direct and manage agency and external supplier support, including budgeting and cross-geography coordination.
• Shape and steward Foley's market-facing narrative, clarifying differentiators, culture, and client value.
• Oversee public relations, awards submissions, rankings, and content strategy to elevate visibility and market relevance.
• Partner with BD, Client Development, sector leaders, and Talent to create plans that drive revenue and talent acquisition.
• Develop internal sales-enablement communications and market updates for lawyers and staff.
• Lead thought leadership strategy, editorial planning, and content development tied to priority industries and client needs.
• Identify high-impact stories and proof points to reinforce Foley's market position and value proposition.
