Job summary

The University of Maryland, College Park, seeks a Senior Director of Development to guide the Office of Gift Planning during the FORWARD campaign, managing a portfolio of 75–100 major and principal prospects and targeting gifts of $50,000+ and $1M+.

The role partners with schools, colleges, and units to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, leads marketing and estate administration, supervises staff, and works with campus leadership to advance philanthropic priorities across the university.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Seven (7) years of professional development, fundraising or external relations experience.
• The position may or may not involve supervisory responsibilities.
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends; some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Guide the Office of Gift Planning's fundraising goals during the FORWARD campaign and beyond.
• Active management of a portfolio of 75-100 major and principal prospects (gifts of 50,000+ and 1M+).
• Develop joint solicitation strategies with campus schools/units and negotiate differences.
• Provide leadership for gift planning marketing, estate administration, and staff development.
• Collaborate with campus leadership to solicit and close gifts for the university.
