Job summary

TransMedics is seeking a Sr. Director of Software Engineering to own embedded and digital software architecture for the Organ Care System (OCS). This executive role sits on the R&D leadership staff and directs multi-year architecture strategy while ensuring timely design translation and validation.

The position requires guiding cross-functional teams, managing external partners, and delivering robust software for a medical device platform, with hands-on leadership when key programs demand it.

Qualifications

• MS in Computer Science or related field; 10+ years software development and leadership experience.
• Direct knowledge of regulatory requirements in medical devices.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Set software strategy within R&D for current and future platforms.
• Own embedded and digital software architecture, requirements, design, and testing.
• Lead design partners for new products and drive alignment across functions.
• Hands-on execution for requirements translation and design verification when needed.
• Own software validation strategy for new product development and testing labs.
• Set and monitor department goals, budgets, and schedules.
• Partner with QA, Regulatory, Supply Chain and Clinical to move programs forward.
