Job summary

The System Director oversees all aspects of the laundry and linen services within the health system. This role directs the planning, organizing, and operational needs of the laundry and linen production for system facilities, ensuring a consistently high level of cleanliness and sanitary standards is maintained.

Work duties include policy implementation, inventory management, budgeting, and ensuring regulatory compliance across DOT, OSHA, TJC, and HLAC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of healthcare or commercial laundry leadership experience.
• Deep knowledge of equipment functionality and repair.
• Advanced knowledge of cleaning and sanitation requirements.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems, MS Office, and linen management software.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work efficiently.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on numerical data.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct laundry and linen activities and logistics for health system facilities.
• Establish and implement policies and procedures for operations.
• Research and apply best practices for cleanliness and sanitation.
• Evaluate, select, and maintain linen, supplies, and equipment inventories.
• Oversee purchasing linens and capital equipment via GPO.
• Develop and maintain a quality maintenance program for equipment.
• Create safety training for all staff and enforce safety protocols.
• Drive business development and account management to support client relationships.
• Set and monitor KPIs for safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
• Direct transportation and logistics for laundry and linen services.
• Create a system-wide budget and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare reports and analyze departmental data for leadership.
• Perform HR tasks including interviews, evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, TJC, HLAC.
• Exercise independent judgment and supervise staff.
• Interact with patients/customers and internal/external contacts.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals at Director level or above.
