Saint Francis Health System Linen Services - Yale Campus is seeking a System Director to lead the laundry and linen operations across the health system. You will plan, organize, and direct production, ensuring top-tier cleanliness and sanitary standards while managing budgets and cross-site logistics.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (preferred) with 5+ years in healthcare laundry leadership, strong ERP and software skills, and outstanding communication and organizational abilities.

  • Manages inventory, purchasing, and capital equipment via GPO.
  • Establishes and monitors KPIs for safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develops safety training and ensures staff follow safety protocols.
  • Oversees transportation/logistics for delivery and route optimization.
  • Maintains system-wide budget and analyzes reports to guide decisions.
  • Ensures compliance with DOT, OSHA, TJC, HLAC guidelines.

This role directs the planning, organizing, and operational needs of the laundry and linen production for system facilities ensuring a consistently high level of cleanliness and sanitary standards is maintained.Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferred.Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Certified Laundry and Linen Manager or Registered Laundry and Linen Director through Association for Linen Management (ALM), preferred.Work Experience: Minimum 5 years Commercial or Healthcare Laundry. Leadership experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Superior knowledge of equipment functionality and repair. Advanced knowledge of cleaning and sanitation requirements needed to sustain ideal standards. Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools, Microsoft Office, and applicable linen management software programs. Effective interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal that present clear and concise information. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical numerical data.Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Plans, organizes, and directs the activities and logistics of the laundry and linen services for the health system facilities; establishes and implements policies and procedures for departmental operations. Researches and applies best practices and processes for guaranteeing optimal cleanliness and sanitary standards for laundry and linen services and implementing superior patient linen handling techniques. Evaluates, selects, and maintains the inventory of linen, supplies, cleaning solutions, and equipment that meet quality standards and fulfills the needs of each system location. Oversees purchasing linens and capital equipment utilizing the systems Group Purchasing Organization (GPO). Develops, implements, and maintains a quality equipment maintenance program that guarantees equipment is operating and is in excellent working order. Develops, and conducts safety training for all staff members. Verifies staff are operating and maintaining equipment using safety protocols. Focuses strategically on acquiring new clients to increase profitability. Drives business development and account management efforts by supporting customer relationships with clients. Establishes and monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, productivity, backlog, change order performance, schedule adherence, and customer satisfaction; reviews results regularly and implements improvement actions. Directs transportation and logistics activities for laundry and linen services including oversight of driver routes ensuring effective and efficient delivery methods are maintained. Creates and monitors a system wide budget for laundry and linen services including costs of supplies and equipment, evaluating cost saving opportunities and ensuring financial objectives are maintained. Prepares and analyzes reports used to track and trend departmental data and statistics, reporting outcomes to leadership. Performs human resources functions by interviewing, hiring, facilitating the performance evaluation process, and assisting with employee disciplinary actions. Ensures compliance of Department of Transportation (DOT), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), The Joint Commission (TJC), Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC) guidelines and regulations.Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.Working Relationships: Direct supervision of others. Prepares and gives performance evaluations. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
