Job summary

Lilly in Indianapolis seeks a Director/Sr Director, Long-Acting Injectable & Bio-Nano Interface Characterization to define strategy for LAI and depot delivery platforms. Lead cross-functional teams and translate science into IND-enabling programs, engaging academic partners, CDMOs, and regulators.

You will mentor scientists, shape experimental strategy, and drive translational planning across programs in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment at Lilly.

Qualifications

• Earned PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, chemical or biomedical engineering, materials science, biophysics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of industry experience in long-acting injectable/depot formulation and injectable nanoparticle development.
• Bridge preclinical mechanistic understanding into IND-enabling translational plans.
• Experience with design controls and quality systems in regulated industry.
• Active use of AI/ML-enabled tools to accelerate research and translational planning.

Responsibilities

• Define the scientific vision and multi-year strategy for LAI/depot delivery.
• Serve as internal/external technical authority on injectable depot systems and bio-nano interface.
• Build external networks with academia, CDMOs, and regulatory bodies.
• Design and oversee preclinical release, PK/IVIVC, and biodistribution study strategy with CROs.
• Mentor and coach scientists and engineers across the portfolio.
