Job summary

Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis seeks a Director/Sr Director of Analytical Development & Characterization to shape strategy for delivery-science analytics across platforms, guiding method development, validation, and IVIVC-enabled analytics for complex injectables.

You will mentor scientists, collaborate with external partners, and translate analytical insights into IND- and CMC-ready control strategies, with 25-50% lab time and 10-15% travel.

Qualifications

• PhD in analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or related field.
• 8+ years in pharmaceutical analytical development with separation science and method validation.
• Ability to translate analytical science into IND/CMC-ready strategies.
• Proven use of AI/ML-enabled tools to accelerate research.
• Proven mentoring and people-development experience.
• Publication and/or patent record in analytical development/characterization.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-year technical strategy for analytical development and characterization.
• Act as internal/external authority on delivery-science analytics and enablement across programs.
• Build external networks with academia, CDMOs, and regulators; represent Lilly publicly.
• Design/oversee strategy for method development, release, and stability studies with CRO/CDMO partners.
• Mentor scientists and engineers; drive improvements across the DDCS technical portfolio.
