Job summary

Lilly is seeking a Senior Director/Director to lead long-acting injectable and bio-nano interface programs. You will set scientific direction, mentor teams, and coordinate across programs with external partners. The role emphasizes IND-enabling translation and design-control readiness for complex delivery systems.

You will drive collaborations with academia, CDMOs, and regulators, applying AI/ML tools to accelerate decision-making and risk mitigation in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Earned PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, chemical or biomedical engineering, materials science, biophysics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of industry/translational experience in LAI/depot formulations and injectable nanoparticle development.
• Bridge preclinical mechanistic understanding into IND-enabling translational plans.
• Working knowledge of design controls and quality systems in regulated industry.
• Effective use of AI/ML-enabled tools to accelerate research and planning.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop technical talent.
• Publications or patents in LAI or nanoparticle drug delivery; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define the scientific vision and multi-year strategy for LAI and depot delivery.
• Serve as Lilly's internal/external technical authority on depot systems and bio-nano interface.
• Build external networks of collaborators; represent Lilly in publications, conferences, regulatory discussions.
• Design and oversee preclinical release, PK/IVIVC, and biodistribution study strategy with CROs.
• Mentor scientists and engineers; drive scientific and process improvements across portfolios.
