Lilly in Indianapolis is seeking a Director/Senior Director of Analytical Development & Characterization to define and drive the analytics strategy for complex injectable biologics and delivery platforms. You will set technical directions, oversee method development, and translate analytical insights into IND/CMC-ready control strategies, while mentoring a broad scientific team.

Qualifications

Earned PhD in analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of industry/translational experience in pharmaceutical analytical development with depth in separation science (HPLC/UPLC, LC-MS) and method development/validation.
Ability to bridge analytical method and characterization into IND-enabling/CMC-ready control strategies.
Hands-on use of AI/ML-enabled tools to accelerate research and planning.
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop scientific talent; strong scientific communication.

Responsibilities

Define the scientific vision and multi-year technical strategy for analytical development across the delivery-science portfolio.
Serve as internal/external technical authority on delivery-science analytics and characterization; lead cross-functional teams.
Build external networks with academia, CDMOs, consortia, and regulatory bodies; represent Lilly publicly.
Oversee strategy for analytical methods, release-characterization, and stability studies with CRO/CDMO partners.
Mentor scientists and engineers; drive scientific improvements across the portfolio.
