Job summary

Jazz Pharmaceuticals seeks a Senior Director, Corporate Counsel, IP to lead global patent strategy and portfolio management for oncology and neuroscience assets. The role partners with Corporate Development, R&D, and business teams to safeguard and maximize IP value.

You will drive IP due diligence for acquisitions and collaborations, supervise outside counsel, and shape strategies to strengthen competitive positioning across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• US Patent Attorney or Agent with 10+ years of IP experience in biopharma.
• Undergraduate degree in biological sciences, biochemistry, chemistry or life sciences; advanced degree preferred.
• Significant experience leading IP due diligence for acquisitions, licensing, collaborations.
• Excellent ability to distill complex legal/scientific concepts for executives.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a critical IP advisor to Corporate Development teams for acquisitions, licensing, collaborations and divestitures.
• Conduct comprehensive IP due diligence including freedom-to-operate, risk assessment, and value drivers.
• Develop and execute global patent strategies to support business objectives and exclusivity.
• Build and manage high-value patent portfolios from invention capture to lifecycle management.
• Manage outside counsel for patent prosecution, IP due diligence, and related matters.
• Advise senior management on IP risks, opportunities, and portfolio optimization.
