Job summary

FTI Consulting in Chicago seeks an experienced accounting professional to lead monthly closes, GAAP reporting, and complex portfolio accounting for mortgage loans and real estate finance. Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or similar field.
8+ years of experience in GAAP accounting for mortgage loans, debt/equity securities and derivative instruments.
Knowledge of portfolio accounting, including loan securitizations and securities accounting.
Proficiency in month/quarter/annual closings for US GAAP financial statements.

Responsibilities

Review and assist with monthly accounting packages for portfolios of residential mortgage loans and real estate loans.
Oversee preparation of financial statements and footnote disclosures.
Advise clients on accounting elections and document GAAP positions.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
Interact with clients, auditors and tax teams as needed.
Supervise and mentor staff through month-end close and reconciliations.
