Job summary

Metropolis Technologies seeks a Senior Director of Indirect Tax to architect and scale our indirect tax and compliance operations during rapid growth. You will advise the VP of Tax and own strategy, system transformations, AI-based analytics, and risk management across sales/use tax, VAT/GST, and licensing in North America.

Requirements include 12+ years in indirect tax leadership at fast-growth tech firms, CPA, 50-state tax expertise, and experience implementing tax engines with ERP

Qualifications

• Minimum 12+ years leading indirect tax in fast-growth tech or mobility companies.
• CPA and 50-state U.S. sales/use tax expertise; global VAT/GST knowledge.
• Proven experience implementing tax engines ONESOURCE/Vertex integrated with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and mentor a high-performing indirect tax team of approx. 5 members.
• Oversee preparation, review, and filing of indirect tax returns across states and Canada.
• Ensure accurate tax determinations, payments, and reconciliations.
• Oversee indirect tax audits, notices, disputes, and coordination with Legal and external advisors.
• Collaborate with Legal and stakeholders on major disputes.
• Establish internal controls, policies, and risk methodologies across jurisdictions.
• Drive automation and standardization of tax processes for scalability.
• Leverage data analytics and AI for reporting and decision support.
• Lead the implementation and optimization of tax technology (ONESOURCE, Vertex, ERP integrations).
