Job summary

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in Rockville, MD seeks a Senior Director of Multicultural Practices to lead culture, language, identity, and disability issues within the CSD professions.

You will guide policy, resources, and professional guidance to broaden access and improve services for diverse populations, while building a high-performing team and aligning initiatives with ASHA priorities.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in audiology or speech-language pathology.
• Experience with a broad range of populations.
• Graduate degree in audiology, speech-language pathology, or related area; CCC from ASHA.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for advisory groups and governance activities that advance multicultural practice, professional guidance, and organizational priorities.
• Represent ASHA as the liaison and expert consultant on disability-related issues with other professional associations, private, federal and state agencies, coalitions, and consumer and advocacy organizations.
• Identify and develop documentation of current trends and critical issues related to practice across the full range of communities served by CSD professionals, and issues impacting professionals to provide opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds and identities within the CSD professions.
• Review, recommend, plan, develop, conduct, and evaluate Association publications, educational programs, and products to ensure appropriate representation of all populations, and to promote service delivery that reflects each person's culture, language, and identity, as well as inclusivity among ASHA members.
• Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team while fostering innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Administer the Association’s field-initiated grant program for projects on multicultural activities in alignment with Association priorities and strategic planning.
• Provide expert consultation and technical assistance on state-of-the-art practice and policy information and materials related to individuals from all backgrounds, including people with disabilities, to enhance service delivery, quality of care, standards of practice, and professional preparation and development.
