Job summary

Sphere Entertainment Co. in Burbank seeks a Senior Director Imaging Systems Development to lead the integration of camera hardware and imaging software with the Studio Capture and Production workflows.

You will report to the VP of AED Product Development. You will oversee the Imaging Systems Team, coordinate requirements, negotiate vendor contracts, and contribute to lens/optical and mechanical design processes while protecting Sphere IP and delivering on aggressive timelines.

Qualifications

• Engineering or Physics degree with at least 10 years' experience in optical systems and/or related software and hardware.
• Proven track record of delivering imaging projects against aggressive deadlines.
• Experience with product development workflows and vendor negotiations.
• Strong technical project management and leadership skills.
• Ability to coordinate hardware and software integration across camera systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee integration of hardware and software across the Big Sky video capture platform.
• Lead and develop the Imaging Systems Team.
• Coordinate consolidation of customer needs into Product Requirements Documents.
• Negotiate vendor contracts to protect Sphere IP.
• Contribute to lens optical and mechanical design processes.
• Support camera hardware, electrical, and thermal design activities.
• Prepare reports for executive stakeholders.
• Ensure exceptional experiences for guests and partners on-site.

Who are we hiring?

Sphere Entertainment is looking for a Senior Director Imaging Systems to manage the integration of Sphere’s camera hardware and imaging processing software with the Studio Capture and Production workflows.

Reporting to VP AED Product Development, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of project management, team leadership, software integration, cameras and optics, and business processes such as RFPs, and IP management.

What will you do?

• Provide oversight of the integration of hardware and software, testing, and implementation across the Big Sky video capture platform
• Manage the development and professional growth of the Imaging Systems Team
• Coordinate the consolidation of customer needs and development of Product Requirement Documents
• Negotiate vendor contracts to ensure favorable terms and Sphere IP protection
• Participate in lens optical and mechanical design process
• Participate in camera hardware, electrical, and thermal design process
• Protect Sphere IP through invention disclosures and patent applications
• Prepare reports and regularly meet with executive stakeholders
• Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.
• Other duties as assigned by management
• Supervision:
  • Ability to lead, mentor, coach and develop employees
  • Reports to AED VP Product Development

What do you need to succeed?

• Engineering or Physics Degree with a minimum of 10 years’ experience with optical systems and/or related software and hardware development.
• Proven track record of delivering advanced imaging project(s) or equivalent with aggressive deadlines
• Experience with standard engineering principles and workflow
• Experience in product development and production is a plus
• Proven technical project management experience
• Proven delivery of multiple projects with competing priorities

Special Requirements

• Role will require domestic travel
  • Monthly trips to Bozeman, MT office
  • Other travel on as-needed basis

Pay Range

$160,000 — $290,000 USD
