Job summary

Alto Neuroscience is seeking a Senior Director of Procurement to lead global vendor contracting and management across our research and clinical operations teams. This leader will own the procurement function end to end, from strategy and policy to negotiating and structuring supplier agreements.

The role sits at the intersection of finance, legal, and the business, requiring 10+ years in biotech procurement leadership and hands-on drafting of MSAs, CDAs and CRO/CDMO agreements.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive procurement leadership in biotech, pharma or life sciences.
• Significant legal experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts independently.
• Experience with CRO, CDMO, clinical supply and quality agreements.
• Working knowledge of GxP, FDA and EMA requirements for suppliers.
• Experience building procurement policies and SOX controls in public/pre-IPO companies.
• Proven ability to negotiate high-value ($10M+) agreements and manage executive relationships.
• Strong financial acumen and partnership with Finance on budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Lead global procurement strategy aligned with research, clinical and commercial roadmap.
• Develop and scale a high-performing procurement and contracts function.
• Oversee policy, SOX-based controls, and purchasing governance.
• Advise executive team on supplier risk, spend and governance.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex agreements (CDAs, MSAs, CRO/CDMO, clinical supply, SaaS).
• Develop contract templates and playbooks with Legal, Finance, Quality, Operations, Compliance.
• Ensure supplier contracts meet GxP, FDA/EMA, HIPAA, GDPR and anti-corruption requirements.
• Run RFI/RFP processes and supplier qualification with cross-functional partners.
• Own PO process, budgeting and month-end accruals; support annual budgeting and reforecasting.
• Deliver spend analytics, savings tracking and KPI reporting to leadership.
