Job summary

Save the Children in Lexington, KY is seeking a Senior Director of Payroll to lead payroll strategy and operations for US entities, including international assignments, in a hybrid work environment.

You will partner with HR, HRIS, Finance and IT to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing, manage external vendors, and drive process automation while safeguarding data security and payroll integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent with at least 7 years of payroll experience and 3 years in supervision.
• Experience in multi-state payroll and regulatory requirements.
• Deep knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Experience with payroll vendors and third-party providers.
• Proficient in MS Office and advanced Excel.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day payroll operations for multiple entities.
• Manage international expatriates and third-country nationals payroll.
• Ensure accurate tax withholding and wage deductions.
• Lead payroll audits and support financial statements.
• Partner with Benefits, HR and IT on payroll-related projects.
• Manage payroll vendors and system implementations.
