Job summary

Save the Children is seeking a Senior Director of Payroll to lead payroll strategy, operations, and vendor management for US entities, including international assignments. You will partner with HR, HRIS, Finance, and IT to ensure compliant, timely payroll across the organization.

You will oversee a payroll team and external providers, drive process improvements, and ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining data security and accuracy in a dynamic nonprofit environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent experience; 7+ years of payroll experience with 3+ years in supervision.
• Experience handling payroll in a complex multi-state environment with related regulatory requirements.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day payroll operations and tax processing for multiple entities and expatriates.
• Manage internal payroll team and external vendors to ensure accurate, timely payroll delivery.
• Lead audits, reporting, and year-end processes; support budgeting for payroll operations.
