Job summary

PKF O'Connor Davies seeks an experienced Employee Benefit Plan Audit Director to lead a portfolio of EBPs, including 401(k) and defined benefit plans, ensuring high-quality audits and client service.

The role requires deep knowledge of ERISA, DOL, IRS, and US GAAP, with strong leadership and mentoring skills to develop staff and grow the practice. Hybrid work model with competitive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive public accounting audit experience, with substantial employee benefit plan audits.
• CPA license strongly preferred; extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, ERISA, DOL.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop professional staff across levels.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee a portfolio of employee benefit plan audits (e.g., 401(k), 403(b), defined benefit).
• Provide engagement leadership from planning through completion, ensuring adherence to standards.
• Review complex audit workpapers and financial statements; resolve accounting issues.
• Serve as a technical resource on EBPs, ERISA, DOL, IRS, and related standards.
• Advise clients on complex EBPs and communicate recommendations to senior management.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships with plan sponsors and administrators.
• Manage engagement economics including staffing, budgets, and profitability.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to Managers, Supervisors, and Associates.
• Participate in recruiting, training and staff development.
• Collaborate on quality control, risk management and practice management.
