Job summary

Quantinuum, a leading quantum computing company, is seeking a Sr. Director of DOE Laboratory Partnerships to drive strategic collaboration with U.S.

DOE national laboratories, identifying high-impact quantum computing use cases and translating DOE needs into actionable research roadmaps. You will lead cross-functional engagement, shape the portfolio of Government-relevant applications, and build long-term partnerships to advance both scientific discovery and commercial value across multiple labs

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Quantum Physics, CS, Chemistry, or related STEM field.
• 10+ years within DOE National Lab complex or federal R&D environment.
• 10+ years in quantum computing applications across multiple domains (chemistry, materials, AI/ML, physics).
• Understanding principles of error correction and fault-tolerant computation.
• Experience leading and motivating research teams across varied skills.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Lab Engagement: be the primary contact for DOE National Labs and build deep technical relationships with Lab Directors and QIS leads.
• Use Case Identification & Co-Development: map capabilities to DOE mission use cases and translate requirements into quantum algorithms and roadmaps.
• Coordinate joint research proposals, CRADAs, and SPPs with DOE counterparts; co-design algorithms and workflows.
• Report findings and progress to stakeholders and identify dual-use commercial applications.
• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary research teams and navigate DOE ecosystems.

Education

Master’s or Ph.D. in Quantum Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, or a related STEM field

10+ years of DOE National Laboratory complex or federal R&D experience

10+ years of quantum computing applications experience

Understanding of error correction and fault-tolerant computation

Leadership of research groups and cross-disciplinary teams
