Job summary

Shaker Place Rehabilitation & Nursing Center seeks a Director of Dietary Services to lead all aspects of the facility's food service operations and to provide comprehensive nutritional care for residents. You will oversee food service personnel and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, while coordinating with other services and maintaining documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Service Administration, Management or Nutrition.
• Licensed or certified as a registered dietitian.
• 4 years of responsible food service experience in long-term care with at least 2 years in supervision (for open-competitive).
• 6 years of responsible food service experience in long-term care with at least 2 years in supervision (for open-competitive, associate degree).
• 10 years of responsible food service experience in long-term care with at least 4 years in supervision (for open-competitive, high school).

Responsibilities

• Directs all phases of the food service operation to assure adequate and efficient food service for residents and employees.
• Establishes policies and procedures for the food service program at the facility.
• Assists in the preparation and maintenance of the food service budget.
• Plans, directs and participates in in-service training programs including orientation of new personnel and continuing staff development.
• Makes routine inspections of the food service operation for compliance with regulations.
• Recommends purchases of new equipment and repair equipment.
• Interviews vendors for supplies and equipment.
• Visits with residents to determine the excellence of meals and service as necessary.
• Maintains sanitary hygiene of the food service program.
• Consults with Dietitian regarding special diet menus.
• Coordinates the food service operation with other services in the facility.
• Maintains records and prepares reports.
