Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated seeks a Senior Director to lead drug product process development for cell and gene therapies at our Boston Seaport site. This role sets the strategy for formulation, cryopreservation, fill and finish, and administration-ready product presentation, guiding programs from early development through commercialization.

The ideal candidate has deep autologous and allogeneic cell therapy experience and will partner across Process Development, Analytical Development,

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent with extensive drug product development experience across cell and gene therapies.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in matrixed environments.
• Strong understanding of cGMP, regulatory expectations, and lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for drug product development across autologous and allogeneic portfolios.
• Define integrated development strategy from early clinical to commercialization.
• Lead formulation, cryopreservation, fill/finish, and administration-ready presentations.
• Oversee aseptic fill/finish processes and device/packaging interfaces.
• Drive technology transfer to GMP facilities and external partners.
• Partner with QA, Regulatory, MSAT, and Supply Chain to ensure compliant strategies.
