Role Overview

The Senior Director of Clinical Chemistry & Immunoassay Portfolio Strategy & Business Development is responsible for strategy and inorganic innovation through business development in Clinical Chemistry and Immunoassay. This role involves leading the development and evolution of business unit & portfolio strategies, partnering with Danaher, Platform, and OpCo functions for M&A, licensing, and partnerships, and collaborating with R&D, Program, and Product Management to transition OI into NPD processes. It is a highly visible role interacting at the executive level and influencing across the diagnostics platform.

This position is based at our Immunoassay Center of Excellence in Chaska, Minnesota, and is primarily onsite. Remote candidates may be considered.

Team and Reporting

You will be part of the Clinical Chemistry & Immunoassay Product and Program Management leadership team, reporting to the Vice President of Clinical Chemistry & Immunoassay Innovation, Product & Program Management. The role focuses on strategic leadership, innovation, partnerships, and lifecycle management to maximize growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead portfolio strategy development and the annual Strategic Innovation Review (SIR) process.
  • Conduct market assessments, analyses, and technology evaluations to support decision-making around organic and inorganic growth options.
  • Lead negotiations and contract structuring with partners, focusing on business and financial success.
  • Drive biomarker scouting initiatives and manage intellectual property evaluations.
  • Partner with CCIA leadership to explore open innovation opportunities and manage technology roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with Legal on IP and licensing opportunities.
  • Work with Business Development to identify and evaluate M&A opportunities.
Minimum Requirements
  • 20+ years of experience with a Bachelor's in biological sciences, engineering, or medicine, or 18+ years with a Master's; Ph.D. or M.D. preferred.
  • Proven success in strategy development, partnerships, and industry knowledge in diagnostics or related fields.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and communication skills.
  • Experience leading teams, managing change, and implementing continuous improvement practices.

Preferred additional experience in immunoassay & clinical chemistry diagnostics, external partnerships, and precision medicine.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $215,000 - $260,000, plus bonus/incentives. Benefits include paid time off, health insurance, 401(k), and more. Compensation details are at the company's discretion and may change.
