The Senior Director of Clinical Chemistry & Immunoassay Portfolio Strategy & Business Development for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for Clinical Chemistry and Immunoassay portfolio strategy and driving inorganic innovation through business development activities. This senior leader will lead development of business unit & portfolio strategy and manage its evolution through the Strategic Innovation Review process. They will partner with Danaher, Platform, and OpCo functions to access technology assets or capabilities through M&A, licensing, and/or partnership agreements. They will also work with R&D, Program, and Product Management to transition OI into NPD processes. This highly visible role interacts and influences at the executive levels of the company and platform.

This position is based at our Immunoassay Center of Excellence in Chaska, Minnesota, and is intended to be onsite. Qualified candidates not near Chaska may be considered for remote work. Our mission is to Relentlessly Reimagine Healthcare, One Diagnosis at a Time.

You will be part of the Clinical Chemistry & Immunoassay Product and Program Management leadership team and report to the Vice President, Clinical Chemistry & Immunoassay Innovation, Product & Program Management. We seek a proven leader who is patient-care and customer-oriented, comfortable in a dynamic environment, collaborative, and eager to build a world-class product management organization.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead portfolio strategy development and the annual Strategic Innovation Review process to create cohesive product roadmaps.
  • Conduct market assessments, analyses, and technology evaluations to support decision-making around organic and inorganic growth options.
  • Negotiate and structure contracts with partners, directly impacting business and financial success.
  • Lead biomarker scouting initiatives and manage IP evaluations in collaboration with various teams.
  • Partner with CCIA leadership to foster open innovation and advance technology roadmaps.
  • Work with Legal on IP opportunities and licensing.
  • Identify and evaluate M&A opportunities with Business Development.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • 20+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or 18+ years with a Master's degree in biological sciences, engineering, or medicine; Ph.D. or M.D. preferred.
  • Successful track record in strategy development, partnership negotiations, and execution within the Diagnostics or related industries.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and market insight skills, with a history of translating insights into strategies and product roadmaps.
  • Collaborative leadership experience, with a record of driving results in matrixed organizations.
  • Experience in building and coaching teams, managing change, and implementing continuous improvement methodologies like LEAN or Six Sigma.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and diverse audiences and championing cross-functional innovation.

Preferred experience includes:

  • 5+ years in Immunoassay & Clinical Chemistry Diagnostics product management or development, understanding the IVD lifecycle.
  • Experience partnering with external organizations for innovation and revenue growth.
  • Knowledge of precision medicine, companion diagnostics, and related fields.

The salary range is $215,000 - $260,000, with potential bonuses and comprehensive benefits including paid time off, insurance, and 401(k).
