Job summary

CSULB seeks a Director of University Events and Commencement to provide strategic and operational leadership for the university's signature presidential, ceremonial, and divisional events, including on-site execution of high-profile ceremonies. The role leads the University Events and Commencement team, manages budgets and vendor relationships, and sets standards for ceremonies and guest experiences.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for University Relations, the Director collaborates

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5 years of progressively responsible experience planning and producing large, complex events, including ceremonies or public events with thousands of attendees.
• 3 years of experience supervising professional staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the university's signature events portfolio and on-site delivery for events involving the President, trustees, and donors.
• Oversee commencement for seven colleges, including schedule, venue plan, budget, and major ceremony features.
• Lead the university events unit, supervise staff, set goals and workloads across the team.
• Manage budgets, contracts, and vendors, ensuring CSU and CSULB compliance.
• Oversee safety, accessibility, risk, and compliance for events and ceremonies.
