Job description

About The Role

Dow Jones is building something ambitious in video, rooted in the authority of The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, MarketWatch, and Investor’s Business Daily, and designed for how audiences actually watch business news now. This is a rare opportunity to help build how this new business finds its audience, builds habits and turns that audience into a sustainable business.

You Will
  • Determine the YouTube channel architecture for the new network and what belongs on existing Dow Jones channels, and when a new network or show-specific channel is warranted, how the portfolio works together without fragmenting the audience.
  • Lead, and initially operate, Dow Jones’ YouTube presence, ensuring every channel and show page is exceptionally programmed, packaged and optimized. Establish best-in-class practices across channel architecture, publishing cadence, metadata, playlists, live and replay strategy, homepage organization and ongoing performance optimization.
  • Develop and execute long-term channel and platform audience growth strategy across YouTube, connected TV and FAST, podcast and vodcast platforms, social video for the new network. Build intentional pathways from open-platform viewing to deeper engagement, registration and subscription pathways.
  • Serve as the network’s primary liaison with YouTube and other strategic platforms, translating product updates, audience insights and evolving best practices into concrete programming, publishing and monetization decisions.
  • Build the audience flywheel connecting full episodes, live programming, clips, search, creator partnerships and cross-promotion across Dow Jones.
  • Establish packaging as a repeatable creative discipline, setting standards for titles, thumbnails, hooks and opening seconds. Work directly with producers, editors and talent to translate audience insight into stronger concepts, storytelling and performance.
  • Lead a rigorous testing program, including live packaging experiments and format-iteration cycles measured in days rather than quarters.
  • Partner with the Head of Programming to bring audience sizing, competitive analysis and format-market fit into the greenlight process.
  • Set and lead the video monetization strategy across platform advertising, direct-sold sponsorships and integrations, connected TV and FAST, licensing and emerging revenue models. Partner with Sales and Finance to determine how each format earns, what commercial thresholds sit in front of greenlight and how to balance near-term revenue with audience growth and long-term franchise value.
  • Build the subscription-funnel strategy from open-platform viewing into Dow Jones–owned products. Partner with Product, Marketing, Data and subscription teams to create and test pathways from viewer to registered user to paid subscriber, and measure acquisition, conversion, retention and lifetime value by show and platform.
  • Define the metrics and reporting cadence leadership uses to manage the slate. Make the data accessible and translate it into creative direction teams can act on without becoming afraid to take ambitious swings.
  • Build the audience and distribution function as the business scales remaining excited to operate hands‑on before there is a large team around you.
You Have
  • 8+ years across audience development, platform strategy, digital‑video growth or monetization, or an equivalent record of exceptional results, with genuine depth in YouTube and a track record of building an audience from a standing start.
  • Experience inside a major platform, a sophisticated creator‑led company or a publisher that has built meaningful digital‑video scale.
  • Expert fluency in YouTube discovery and performance, plus working knowledge of connected TV and FAST.
  • Accountability for a business outcome, not simply a channel. You are as fluent in RPM, CPM and sell‑through as you are in retention curves and thumbnail tests.
  • Experience working directly with on‑camera talent and creator partners on positioning, packaging and performance.
  • A genuinely collaborative style, with experience building revenue models beside the people selling them and building them.
  • Fluency across the creator economy and established media, with the diplomatic skill to move between them without condescending to either.
  • An understanding of operating in an editorially serious environment. You can advocate for reach in a room full of journalists and be persuasive rather than alarming.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a clear point of view on how a trusted news organization should respond to changing audience behavior.
