Job summary

Colby College in Waterville, ME, seeks an Associate Athletic Director for Sports Information & Communications to lead external communications, media relations, digital content, and brand protection for the athletics department.

The role reports to the Deputy AD for Competitive Excellence and oversees staff, production of broadcasts, statistics reporting, and crisis communications with campus leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in athletics communications.
• Outstanding oral and written communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor communications staff, fostering accountability and innovation.
• Serve as primary media and communications contact for assigned varsity programs.
• Represent Colby on conference and national committees; manage crisis communications and messaging.
• Assist in department branding and event coverage; supervise live stats and reports.
• Create social media graphics and video highlights using Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Collaborate with campus partners to ensure timely communications and adherence to policies.
• Support head coaches with storytelling opportunities and media interview needs.
