Pagaya is seeking a Senior Director, Associate General Counsel to lead legal strategy for a high-growth fintech. You will oversee complex agreements, regulatory compliance, and risk management in collaboration with product, data, and risk teams.

The ideal candidate has 8–15+ years of legal experience, a JD, and bar admission, with deep expertise in U.S. consumer credit and lending regulations (TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, FCRA, GLBA).

Qualifications

• 8–15+ years of total legal experience, with 7–10 years in consumer credit, retail banking, or lending partnerships.
• JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership.
• Expert knowledge of U.S. consumer credit and lending regulations (TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, FCRA, UDAP/UDAAP, GLBA).
• Experience with bank‑fintech origination structures and true lender considerations.

Responsibilities

• Lead long‑term bank partnerships & deal execution: oversee due diligence and onboarding for Tier‑1 banks and manage ongoing legal strategy and regulatory needs.
• Strategic deal architecture (hands‑on): structure, draft, and negotiate complex program and commercial agreements.
• Consumer lending subject matter expertise: advise on lending regulations, balancing innovation with compliance.
• Franchise & IP protection: safeguard data, AI models, data pipelines, and confidential information.
• Regulatory compliance strategy: partner with product and data science to ensure AI underwriting compliance.
• Ongoing functional leadership: guide cross‑functional teams and translate regulatory constraints into actionable strategy.
