Job summary

Pagaya seeks an accomplished, strategic Senior Director, Associate General Counsel to lead banking partnerships and regulatory strategy. Reporting to the General Counsel, this role bridges Pagaya’s AI tech with complex risk and compliance frameworks of major banks.

The ideal candidate has extensive consumer credit and lending regulatory expertise, strong executive presence, and a builder mindset to shape long-term partnership strategies and agreements.

Qualifications

• 8–15+ years of total legal experience.
• 7–10 years in consumer credit, retail banking, or lending partnerships.
• Expert-level knowledge of TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, FCRA, UDAP/UDAAP, and GLBA.
• Experience with bank-fintech origination structures and "true lender" issues.
• Due diligence, risk management, and regulatory audits for Tier-1 banks.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary legal interface for institutional partners and manage due diligence, onboarding, and ongoing regulatory needs.
• Structure, draft, and negotiate complex program and commercial agreements; lead drafting processes.
• Act as subject matter expert on consumer lending regulations and regulatory flexibility.
• Protect data, AI models, pipelines, and confidential information during rapid scale-up.
• Ensure AI-driven underwriting compliance and address fair lending and bias mitigation.
