Job summary

Azenta Life Sciences, a global leader in life sciences, seeks a Senior Director, Assistant General Counsel to partner with executive leadership. This role oversees labor and employment, compliance, and commercial contracting across the enterprise, guiding risk-based decisions and driving process improvements.

The successful candidate will lead a team of lawyers, manage outside counsel, and influence strategic initiatives while aligning legal function with corporate objectives.

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school and active U.S. bar membership.
• 10+ years of progressive legal experience in corporate or top-tier law firms.
• Significant labor and employment law experience and counseling.
• Proven ability to draft, negotiate and advise on complex commercial agreements.
• Experience supervising outside counsel, managing budgets, and leading teams.
• Experience developing and leading compliance programs and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior legal advisor to executive leadership on broad business matters.
• Lead employment, compliance, and contracting functions across global operations.
• Direct litigation strategy and oversee external counsel as needed.
• Develop talent, streamline processes, and drive technology-enabled legal operations.
• Partner with HR, finance, and business leaders to balance risk and growth.
• Advise on governance, regulatory developments and data privacy initiatives.
