Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Sr. Director & Actuary to lead an actuarial team responsible for GL, Umbrella, and Excess pricing support within the Middle & Large Business group.

You will drive line-of-business analyses, Loss Ratio planning, and predictive insights to guide underwriting decisions. Collaborating across actuarial segments and with Product, Finance, Claims, and Performance Analytics, you will shape an enterprise view of GL and advance analytics to improve pricing and profitability.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of actuarial experience with a proven record.
• FCAS preferred but not required.
• Leadership and people-management experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to business leaders.
• Experience with GL, Umbrella, and Excess liability lines preferred.
• Proficient Excel; coding skills in R/Python/SQL are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage an actuarial team for GL, Umbrella, and Excess across multiple business segments.
• Drive Health of the Line reporting with senior leaders.
• Own line of business level analyses (trend, base year, etc.) to hit Loss Ratio Planning timelines.
• Deliver timely and insightful analysis of loss cost trends impacting GL and support underwriting actions.
• Drive advancement of analytics to support Umbrella and Excess products.
