Job summary

Insight Global seeks a Senior Director to lead strategy, architecture, and evolution of an enterprise engineering Control Plane for a remote U.S. team. You will oversee ~30 engineers and technical leaders across platform engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, and AI enablement.

You will own the long-term vision, build scalable developer tooling, and standardize delivery across AWS and cloud-native tech, while driving governance, security, and developer productivity at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years leading platform engineering, DevOps, or engineering systems teams.
• Experience building and scaling Internal Developer Platforms across multiple teams.
• Deep AWS and cloud-native architecture expertise.
• Strong Kubernetes and container platform experience.
• Proven experience developing enterprise CI/CD strategy and standards.

Responsibilities

Location: Fully Remote, U.S.

Compensation: $270K–$320K

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

We’re looking for a highly technical Senior Director to lead the strategy, architecture, and evolution of an enterprise engineering Control Plane.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who knows how to build and scale the engineering systems that enable hundreds of developers to build, test, secure, deploy, and operate software efficiently.

You’ll lead an organization of approximately 30 engineers and technical leaders across platform engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, developer productivity, and AI enablement.

What You’ll Own

• Define the long-term vision and roadmap for an enterprise-wide Control Plane.
• Build and scale an Internal Developer Platform used across multiple engineering teams.
• Standardize software delivery across AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD, security, and developer tooling.
• Establish engineering guardrails, quality gates, release governance, and security controls.
• Improve developer productivity, deployment velocity, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Evaluate and implement AI coding agents, foundation models, and AI-enabled engineering workflows.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years leading platform engineering, DevOps, developer productivity, infrastructure, or engineering systems organizations.
• Experience building and scaling Internal Developer Platforms across multiple engineering teams.
• Deep AWS and cloud-native architecture expertise.
• Strong Kubernetes and container platform experience.
• Proven experience developing enterprise CI/CD strategy and software delivery standards.
• Experience leading major platform modernization and technology standardization initiatives.
• Strong understanding of engineering governance, security controls, and release management.
• Ability to lead large technical initiatives across complex engineering organizations.
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Highly Preferred

• Experience implementing AI-enabled software development workflows.
• Experience evaluating AI coding assistants, agents, or foundation models.
• Developer Experience (DevEx) or engineering productivity leadership.
• Experience in highly regulated environments such as FedRAMP, government, financial services, healthcare, or cybersecurity.
• Experience consolidating engineering platforms or tooling during large-scale organizational transformation.

The Ideal Profile

You’re a technical engineering leader who can operate at both the strategy and architecture level. You understand platform engineering deeply, know how to create standards without slowing teams down, and are actively thinking about how AI will reshape software development.

You should be comfortable balancing innovation, governance, developer experience, security, and execution at enterprise scale.
