Job summary

Mount Rogers Community Services Board is seeking a Direct Support Professional II SR to provide skill building and support for individuals with developmental disabilities to live, learn, and participate in their communities.

Responsibilities include training in personal care, socialization, community integration, employability, health and safety, and daily living skills, with services possibly delivered during the day, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• One-year experience working with persons with developmental disabilities preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license and copy of DMV safe driving record.
• Completion of medication aide training within five (5) months of hire.
• Criminal background and DSS registry check required.

Responsibilities

• Provide skill building and support to individuals to promote independence and participation in community and/or facility-based activities.
• Complete daily documentation including progress notes, medication administration, time sheets, and other reports.
• Intervene in crises and emergencies, including administration of first aid as needed.
• Ensure trainings are completed in compliance with DBHDS, DMAS, and HCBS requirements.
• Provide input into person-centered plans reflecting strengths and preferences.
• Administer and document medications per physician’s orders.
• Transport individuals to and from community-based activities.
