Job summary

Medtronic in Dexter, Michigan, is seeking a Principal Process Engineer to optimize dip molding processes for medical-grade catheters and lead end-to-end manufacturing scale-up, including tooling design and equipment integration.

The role emphasizes collaboration, process development, and adherence to regulatory standards, with strategic impact on production yields and product quality. In-person work is required, with travel under 10%.

Qualifications

• Requires a Baccalaureate degree AND minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience.
• Experience with dip-coating/molding processes and biocompatible materials is preferred.
• Ability to lead development and scale-up of manufacturing lines for catheters.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area.
• Recommend and implement equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies.
• Integrate equipment and material capabilities to meet process and technology target specifications.
• Review product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules.
• Interact with product design and development personnel to ensure processes and designs are compatible.
• Lead the innovation and optimization of new manufacturing concepts and transfer to manufacturing operations.
• Develop manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control and measurement systems.
• Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
